Why This Craft?

The Wild Robot by Peter Brown is an absolute favorite among students in grades 3 to 5. Its captivating story of a robot’s adventure and search for belonging truly sparks their imaginations. If you haven’t yet introduced this gem to your students, I wholeheartedly recommend it. They’ll be drawn into the story and inspired by its heartfelt themes (and I think you’ll really enjoy it too)!

You and your students can create your very own fun and unique Wild Robot crafts!

How to Create Your Wild Robot Craft

  1. Choose a Robot Head Template: Have students select one of the three robot head templates included in the resource. For best results, print these templates onto grey cardstock.
  2. Design the Robot Head: Students will have a blast using the cut-and-paste add-on page to create their own unique robot heads and faces. This is where their creativity can really shine!

3. Complete the Simile Sentence Stems: Have your students fill in the simile sentence stems printable to describe their robots. It’s a fun and meaningful way for them to practice similes while personalizing their creations.

4. Assemble the Robot: Once the robots are fully designed, students will attach the Simile sign to the robot’s neck, as shown on the template. They’ll then stick on the legs so they peek out from under the sign and add the hands to complete their robot masterpiece.
