I started Teaching with Imagination to help 3rd to 5th-grade teachers find unique ways to bring fun and excitement into learning, especially for those hard-to-engage students.
Flashback to 2017. I had my first class filled with amazing students, but keeping them excited about learning? That was a whole different challenge. I quickly realized I needed to dive into their interests and come up with innovative ways to keep them engaged.
One of my proudest moments in that first year of teaching came during our opinion writing unit. The prompt was, ‘Are cats or dogs the best pet?’ Cue the collective groan. ‘We do this every year!’ my class complained. Challenge accepted, I thought to myself.
Enter The Unsellable Product Challenge. My students had to write advertisements for crazy items like:
The result? They were absolutely thrilled! Their creativity and enthusiasm led to the most amazing writing. And best of all, they were so incredibly proud of their work.
Ever since, I’ve been committed to reimagining ways to add extra fun and excitement to the classroom. My passion lies in crafting engaging learning experiences that captivate students and help them fall in love with learning. By tapping into students’ interests and staying updated with the latest trends, I constantly work hard to dream up innovative ways to make education relevant and enjoyable.
